Roller Blinds
Overview
We manufacture using two component systems - Louvolite, Benthin.
Louvolite components are generally used on blinds up to 3 metres wide. The Louvolite bottom bar is used extensively either wrapped, or as a weight for traditional stitched hems.
Benthin heavy duty system components are suited to larger blinds and are substituted automatically on orders for blinds over 3 metres wide. Their bottom bars are ideal for contemporary blinds and the pear-shaped bar integrates with the side guide system.

Seams (if applicable)
IMAGE
Where a blind is wider than the fabric specified a seam may be necessary.
Seams must always run horizontally so we will first 'rail-road' the fabric ( turn it sideways) so that the width of the blind becomes the drop.
RAILROADING FABRIC WILL CAUSE VERTICALLY STRIPED/ PATTERNED FABRICS TO RUN HORIZONTALLY.
If the blind is shorter than the width of the blind ( less a few centimetres for turnings etc) then there may be no seam. However if the blind is longer - say 2.5m drop with a fabric that is only 2m wide then two pieces of fabric will need to be joined together and there will be a seam approx 2m from the bottom of the blind.
The seam is always positioned towards the top of the blind - which means that it is out of sight if the blind is lowered by less than the width of the fabric used.
We need to leave around 20-30cm of fabric on the barrel of a roller blind in order to create tension and ensure that the fabric remains insitu. So where a blind has a similar drop to the width of the fabric used, there will be a seam that sits on the barrel. Whilst it is largely invisible the doubling of the fabric on the seam can cause a rippling effect on the fabric that is rolled over it

In general, the wider the roller blind - the bigger the diameter of the barrel. The following components will be used for roller blinds according to size:
Up to 2 metres wide - Louvolite System 32 (32mm)
2 - 2.5 metres wide - Louvolite System 40 (40mm)
2.5 - 3 metres wide - Louvolite System 45 (45mm)
3 - 4 metres wide - Benthin heavy duty system (52/65mm)
Double Brackets
The Louvolite double bracket enables two roller blinds to be hung from a single set of brackets.
There are couple of considerations:
The front-facing blind MUST be reverse rolled.
The rear blind can be either standard or reverse rolled
Controls for each of the blinds will be at opposite ends to each other.
Roller blinds on double brackets may be motorised - however the largest barrel that is supported by these brackets is 45mm, restricting motorisation to low voltage motors.

Motorisation FAQ’s
Motorisation of blinds is a broad, specialist subject. But here are some basics that cover the questions that we are commonly asked.
All roller blind motors are tubular and are housed inside the barrel of the blind out of sight.
RTS motors include a receiver ( integrated with the motor ) that talks wirelessly to the RTS remote control.
RTS remotes use Radio Frequency Signalling to communicate with the blind.
RTS is not Infra Red. RTS blinds cannot be controlled by an IR remote control.
RTS remote controls are available as hand held or wall mounted devices.
Mains voltage RTS motors require a fused spur per motor.
Low Voltage RTS motors require a Somfy power supply ( transformer ).
Battery RTS motors are powered by a lithium wand battery that is housed out of sight behind the blind.
